The plant contains a compound called vinpocetine, which has been used to treat conditions such as memory loss, depression, and headaches. The periwinkle plant is also used in traditional medicine to deal with a variety of ailments, including asthma, eczema, and diarrhoea. It is also known worldwide for its anti-cancer properties.
Dwarf Kalachuchi (Adenium obesum)
Despite its beauty, many people from China and Vietnam consider the Kalachuchi unlucky due to the belief that ghosts and spirits live on the branches of the tree. In the Philippines, they are also associated with ghosts and death since they are planted in cemeteries and graveyards.
