Decay

Decay
Dr Abe V Rotor

Remnants of a dead Motave tree (Vitex parviflora),
Photo taken by the author in Samboan, Cebu, circa 1992.

Decay is the microbial call
for the big to yield to the small,
the small to the unseen,
ad infinitum.

The minutiae the lenses bare
dwarf the Lilliputian scale;
matter breaks into molecule
to the ultimate minuscule
to the atom.

Where we all came from,
to our final sojourn,
once the soul is freed,
begins the atom,
that returns unknown.

- AV Rotor, Light in the Woods, 1995 Megabooks
