Tempering Childhood with Nature
"Be part of the network and cycle of life
that temper the body, mind and spirit." avr
Dr Abe V Rotor
San Vicente, Ilocos Sur Circa 1989
A bath tub - a swimming pool to these kids;
it's a whole world, a ship cruising the seas,
a spaceship to explore the planets and stars,
routes of living, its trials that never cease.
Calatagan, Bataangas
A springboard, crude and simple:
a bridge of two worlds - land and sea,
child and man, and brotherhood;
ease and danger, risk and bravery.
España, Manila (Circa 1986)
Come flood and storm, the spirit must rise
above and triumph,
but only for those who have passed the test -
and enjoyed it, too.
Kids at Play, QC (Circa 2003)
Move over rugby, football or any rough game;
these games have all been the same,
over and over again, reborn through the gene;
what a waste if you've missed the fun.
Lemery, Batangas (Circa 2005)
It's not all play that makes a child happy;
precious is his time in between,
rest and adventure, friends and family;
thought and imagination.
Pahiyas Festival, Lucban, Quezon (May 15, c. 1987)
Love the theater in its natural setting,
birds in the trees, fish in the stream,
seasons changing, fields green to gold,
habagat to amihan, summer is but brief,
breeze into tempest, new moon to full;
be part of the network and cycle of life
that temper the body, mind and spirit.
Author is a staghorn deer in a children's play.
