Faces, faces, which are happy, which are sad?

     I don't know in my own world;

When you are free and when you are a slave,

     I'd rather save the unkind word.

You yielded to man's demand to leave the wild,

     all for his civilization;

You left your kind in the forest and in the sky,

     to your last bastion.

You are on stage for children and grownups

     in respite from life's tight bind;

I wonder what you have, where you came from,

     perhaps one of a kinder kind. ~
