In philosophy, naturalism is the idea that only natural laws and forces operate in the universe.

Porphyra* on glass AVR
Gamet is a rare delicacy, vernacular Iluko word for nori, in Japanese. It's a gift of the Kuroshu Current to us in the Philippines, but only found growing wild in the town of Burgos in Ilocos Norte and a little northward. Its dichotomous feature and unique color make Porphyra a favorite subject of study and art.
Diatoms in 3 dimensions AVR
Diatoms come in various shapes and designs, but always microscopic. They build their own glass houses, which either dissolve, or accumulate on the sea floor and mined as diatomaceous earth, an ideal filter for potable water and various industries requiring filtration.
Spermatozoa AVR
Sperms for short, are gametes ejaculated by the male gonads. It's a race to find and fertilize their female counterpart, which they greatly outnumber. Under the microscope they move fast aided by their long tails, in a kind of frenzy swarm, an interesting subject of biology and art.
Arthropod AVR
Arthropoda is the largest phylum in the animal kingdom in number and diversity from crabs to insects, and all those with "jointed bodies" for which they got their name. Wonder how many legs and body joints there are in mosquitoes, more so in millipedes. Next time you are served lobster in a restaurant, be like the researcher and the artist; pause and study the ancient creature, and imagine you are living in the era of dinosaurs without forgetting the fact that we - Homo - came only on December 30, if the earth's history is measured by calendar.
Starfish AVR
Dimorphism, a biological phenomenon, is clearly demonstrated by the starfish (Phyllum Echinodermata), normally having five arms, but now and then, the marine enthusiast discovers four-arm or six-arm specimens. Wonder at the starfish too, for its rare ability to reproduce by fragmentation. Cut it through the center like pizza and you help the organism multiple. Have you seen a blue or red or multicolored starfish? It's a great find indeed.
Pieris Butterflies AVR
Pieris rapae or cabbage butterflies emerge causing large scale infestation ruining whole fields of crucifers (vegetables belonging to the cabbage family). Pieris appears gentle and harmless though, in ordinary times, fluttering in the garden as pollinators and subject of awe and beauty in an otherwise monotonous landscape, inviting to the curious and creative. Children take time out from their games to catch playfully this lepidopteran.
Gracilaria AVR
In the marine environment seaweeds, like the Gracilaria (Rhodophyta), grow abundantly, thus commonly referred to as "weeds", forming pastures and forests of the sea. Quite often divers not only find strange symbionts (tenants or companions in lay terms), but the plant itself creates fairytale scenes, alien to us terrestrial beings. On the economics side, Gracilaria is a primary source of agar used in food, pharmaceuticals, and other industries.
Rainbow Eucalyptus AVR
Nymphaea AVR
The enigmatic pond Nymphaea and lotus, Nelumbium, although the two are distant relatives, dominate the pond, their flowers opening with the rising sun, a scene that captivates the curious, the creative - and the meek and lonely, to meditate and wonder in awe and respect to nature.
Parrots AVR
Birds in the trees, among them are colorful parrots. There are more you can't see but hear. Listen to their songs. It's a chorus, an orchestra with the breeze, frogs, reptiles, crickets and other musicians of nature. You can't capture all these in one school - romanticism or realism or abstract. Welcome naturalism in contemporary interpretation of auditory and spatial art. ~
