Land of Parrots

Land of Parrots
Sunshine Coast, Australia

"Parrot land - hear the shrieks, screaks,
squawks of birds, and screams of man
from the flock above, and crowd below,
how wonderful is creation as one!" - avr

Dr Abe V Rotor

"Protect, save the wildlife, with cheer,
it's part of us, woven in our world,
as one network, to hold and revere,
with man as guardian. Behold!" - avr

"Naturalism, forgotten in modern living,
in books, school, and the computer,
yet akin to instinct, in our very being,
buried in our senses in slumber." - avr

"Evolution through domestication in man's hands,
Darwin discovered it not in Galapagos islands,
but from birds, setting another line in his theory,
            a dichotomy that sparked today's controversy. " - avr

"Do parrots have a mind of their own? I wonder.
Do we understand their language,
but only our own?  Move over super computer!
Man has yet to prove he is a sage?" - avr

"If you can't re-create the Garden all at one time,
just do it - and one by one the creatures shall return,
hearing once more the tune of the long lost chime
of Eden, from guilt and regrets, to love we learn."

Australia has long been known as the 'Land of Parrots' with scores of bright, iridescent birds distributed across the continent. There are 56 species of the parrot found in Australia, which includes cockatoos, lorikeets, rosellas, ringnecks and budgerigars. Internet

Parrots, also known as psittacines, are birds with a strong curved beak, upright stance, and clawed feet. They are made up of four families that contain roughly 410 species in 101 genera, found mostly in tropical and subtropical regions. The lifespan of Cockatoos is 40 to 60 years, while the Hyacinth macaw is 50 years.

The author and his family visited in July 2023 the Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World Sunshine Coast  where the parrots are trained to entertain and intermingle with guests. ~
