A cyclops moth found refuge on a wall mural one evening

A cyclops moth found refuge on a wall mural
one evening
Photos and verse by Dr Abe V Rotor

A local moth traced to the Polyphemus moth - Antheraea polyphemus (Cramer). named after
Polyphemus, the giant cyclops from Greek mythology who had a single large, round, eye in the middle
of his forehead (Himmelman 2002).  Wall mural painting by the author, San Vicente Botanical Garden.

False eyes to scare enemies -
Nature's gift of survival
to defenseless creatures like this Polyphemus moth,
one drizzling evening found refuge on a wall mural;
with neither fear nor aggression on the wall it brought.

Beauty and peace on a natural setting the artist thought.
Eureka! artist and moth found mutual joy they sought. ~
