Casuarina and Nymphaea

                                     Casuarina and Nymphaea

 Dr Abe V Rotor

Evacuation from Burning St Paul Novitiate Building WWII
hanging wall mural (4 ft x 12 ft) By Leo Carlo Rotor

Trees and lilies, how lovely they stand and by name,
    Majestic, rising to the sky, kissed by the cloud,
From the deep at the break of dawn to meet the sun,
    Unfolds life's drama from the ephemeral shroud.

And I, what beauty makes my presence and time,
    On the fast lane, when views are but passing blur,
When morning is late and the clouds just pass by,
    Missing God's muses in their finest hour?

Seasons come and go with the lilies and the trees,
    Blind I've been searching a niche from my lair,
Behind curtains, under neon lights, on high rise,
    And wishing I were among the creatures fair. ~

Composite effect of collage paintings

Individual focus gives way to pseudo-mural effect vision
on a hallway or blind corner;
this composite rainforest: aerial view, or its cross-section,
 to the armchair traveler.  ~

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, not in the eyeglasses you wear.

 Eyeglasses Everywhere, but not a Speck of Vision

A personal collection of eyeglasses.
except memories, what a waste!
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
not in the eyeglasses you wear. ~

Morning at the University of Santo Tomas Manila Botanical Garden - An On-the-Spot Painting

 Morning at the University of Santo Tomas Manila Botanical Garden - An On-the-Spot Painting

"It is misty, it is foggy, here at the
garden, or it must be smog in the city air..." avr

Painting and poem by Abe V Rotor

                      It is misty, it is foggy, here at the garden,
     or it must be smog in the city air;
and the early rays pierce through like spears,
     yet this is the best place for a lair.

But the artist must be provoked, challenged;
     for peace can't make a masterpiece;
only a troubled soul rises where others fall,
     where ease and good life often miss.

This lair is where the action is, the battlefield,
     where pure and polluted air meet,
where a garden in a concrete jungle reigns,
     where nature's trail ends in a street.

Art, where is art, when the message is unclear,
     colors, colors, what color is blind faith?
what color is rage, what color is change?
     colors be humble - black is your fate. ~

A spray of red and orange in the tree top,
     either it is autumn's onset,
or the season had just passed us in slumber,
     yet too early to hibernate.

Catch the sun, borrow its colors and shine
     that you may be filled with grace divine;
for your life is short and your flowers ephemeral,
     that make you a mythical vine.

There is no such thing as emptiness, for memories linger;
     the bench is warm, whispers hang in the glen;
spirits roam, the past comes around in them to haunt,
     to scare a bit to remember them, now and then. ~

Photography: Capture Spontaneous Joy with the Camera

Photography: Capture Spontaneous Joy
with the Camera

 Dr Abe V Rotor

Triumph in life by being happy;
capture the rare chance with the lens;
share God's greatest gift now and hence,
with your family and everybody.

 Children are the happiest lot on earth. Their tears dry up
with a smile and burst into laughter the world can hear.

 When work is game, discovery an adventure, pleasant is its view;
when you're with a happy company, our senses are collective, too.

A member of the family or a friend takes you to a celebration,
a rite as old as mankind often forgotten, rekindled into collective joy.

A trio fills the hall with songs, romantic and  joyous,
 the music of the people, free and spontaneous.

Walking down the stream in a make-believe scenario.

Learning to play the guitar and uke with a maestro.

Future scientists. Curiosity is the beginning of discovery.

Grown ups revisiting a lost garden in the holy book;
this little corner of Eden to them is a happy nook.

She sat on a throne high up unknown,
over a kingdom not her own;
nestled in the comfort of a lonely pine,
if you call this freedom of a kind. ~
